GANA GlassFab Successfully Educates

The recent GANA Glass Fabrication & Glazing Educational Conference in Las Vegas featured the first inclusion of contract glazing education for project managers and estimators, and the resulting synergy created a successful event for the Association.  Attendees met at the Monte Carlo, which re-opened only three weeks after a fire on the building's upper facade caused limited exterior damage.

"GlassFab delivered on its goal of providing top notch glazing education to industry newcomers and veterans alike," said Bill Yanek, GANA Executive Vice President.  "GANA is always striving to make its meetings better, and GlassFab 2008 was no exception with USGlass Magazine and GANA adding an online video element to this year's conference media coverage."

The event featured a tour of Las Vegas skyscrapers, led by Greg Carney, GANA Technical Director and Henry Taylor of the Kawneer Company, Inc.  They led a bus of attendees throughout the Strip, stopping to discuss many signature casinos to discuss the glazing, coatings and other components comprising the unique aesthetic in the city.  The field trip drew several positive comments from glaziers who attended.

Many of the presentations at GlassFab covered the basics of fabrication and management, but other topics continued to draw interest.  "GANA also ramped up its 'Green' educational offerings, which were among the most heavily attended sessions of the conference," explained Yanek.

GANA's educational efforts are also taking a new medium for greater global reach.  "Looking ahead, many of the GlassFab 2008 presentations will be available in their entirety on the new GANA glasseducation.com," said Yanek.  Those presentations will begin appearing on the site later in May.
