GANA Opens Online Balloting Association-Wide

The Glass Association of North America (GANA) debuted its online balloting system with a few select committees this past summer.  The system, which allows committees to see a quicker turnaround in the balloting process by allowing members to view the items being balloted and then submit a vote with or without comment, was a quick success and more Committees were enrolled in the system.

After a trial process, the system was opened Association-wide during the first week of November with a ballot of a few GANA bylaws amendments to all GANA Executive Representatives.  In the first day, over 30 ballots were cast and the ballot remains open through the month of November to the 7th of December.

"This feature is something our members have asked for as Committee balloting became more commonplace with organizations such as ASTM," said Brian Pitman, Director of Marketing and Communications.  "The results have been pretty smooth, and we moved up the launch from early 2008 to November because of the positive feedback."

The system, which features individual logins based on email address, also includes automatic password retrieval, password changes, and more.  "We are in the process of shifting the entire Members Only website to this login system so that members may access their Committees and ballots, as well as the entirety of the documents and information available on the Members Only site, though one portal," said Pitman.

More features, such as access to annual dues invoices, the ability for members to update their contact information, and more are planned to roll out in early 2008.  The re-designed GANA website will also debut in 2008.
