GANAs BEC Division Technical Committee Takes Flight

The Glass Association of North Americas (GANA) Building Envelope Contractors (BEC) Division Technical Committee has refocused its efforts under the leadership of Henry Taylor of the Kawneer Company, and its agenda is filling quickly in advance of their next full meeting in February. The meeting, which officially kicks off the BEC Conference, will take place at 9:00 a.m., February 17, 2008, at the Rio All-Suites Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

Commercial fenestration systems continually advance with new products, applications and standards, said Greg Carney, GANAs Technical Director. The BEC Division Technical Committee is the primary vehicle to ensure that our members are aware of issues and opportunities and have an active voice in addressing codes and standards.

The Committee consist of the following members:

We have assembled an excellent team of professional experts in the industry, said Taylor. Our consensus approach on the Committee will enable us to study and solve some of the biggest issues facing glazing contractors on the job today.

Short-Term objectives for the Committee include:

Create a Glass Informational Bulletin on Boiler Plate Bid Qualifications
Update sections in the GANA Glazing Manual for the 2008 edition, 50th Anniversary
Author a new GANA manual on architectural fenestration framing systems
Publish a Glass Informational Bulletin on Key Elements of Fenestration Elements in Shop Drawings
