The Laminating Division has released an updated edition of its GIB, Emergency Egress Through Laminated Glazing Materials.
Building codes often require, and/or modern architectural designs specify, glazing materials that provide enhanced performance levels of security and safety. These performance properties include: resistance to ballistics, blast, hurricane/cyclic wind pressures and physical attack. Glazing applications may also specify such properties as sound reduction, fade resistance, and solar and thermal control. Because laminated glazing materials are able to meet such requirements and design criteria, they are finding application in a broader range of installations than ever before. The use of laminated glazing in residential and commercial installations has led to inquiries by design professionals and specifiers regarding the reaction of public safety officials to these products. This document is intended to inform building owners, design professionals, and specifiers about emergency ingress and egress considerations when using these products. This document was first published in July 2004 and was re-published in 2010. This edition of the bulletin provides the most recent update and published in October 2017.

Us vs Them?
If you've listened to any other discussion about generational issues at work, then you've undoubtedly been told there are four distinct generations operating side-by-side in today's working world. You've then been told the differences between those four generations, and then you've been told that you need to just deal with all these different people, because they're not going away and they're not going to change how they operate. If that advice suits you, fantastic.
However, if you've ever been frustrated by how impossible it seems to employ four different strategies to manage four distinct generations, then Us Vs. Them is exactly what you need. Because it turns out that there really aren't four generations. In this hysterical keynote, you'll learn a simpler way of looking at your own generational picture, and you'll also learn how to understand, recognize, and resolve every generational issue facing today's workforce. That's no exaggeration; by the end of Us Vs. Them, you and your colleagues will walk away with all of the knowledge you'll need to address 100% of the generational issues you'll face for the rest of your career. Other generational presentations focus on what people want, but Us Vs. Them will tell you why everyone wants the different things they do. It's an important distinction, and it will make implementing new solutions easier than you ever thought possible.
So get ready to laugh more and learn more than you ever thought possible. Because improving your generational issues doesn't have to be boring.

An updated statement from the Glass Association of North America regarding the effects of Hurricane Irma on Fall Conference 2017, to be held Sept. 12-14 in Atlanta...
Fall Conference will proceed as planned unless and until the Mayor of Atlanta and the Governor of Georgia declare a state of emergency and require evacuations for the Atlanta area. Even though the governor of Georgia has called for a state of emergency to expedite the receipt of FEMA assistance, all facilities and hotels in Atlanta are open. As of now, Atlanta Hartsfield Airport is planning to remain open. The most recent forecasts for Atlanta are showing a downgraded event throughout the day Monday.
The only scenarios that will cause the Conference to be canceled are: 1. If mandatory evacuations are required in Atlanta; 2. If the Georgia World Congress Center (GWCC) is directed to close their facility.
At this time, we have be assured by local authorities that there is a very small chance of either scenario happening. We are following established operating procedures and protocols common to all trade shows and events.
GANA is very concerned about the safety and security of our attendees and support your personal or company decision as it relates to your travel to Atlanta.
If you decide not to attend, please be sure to cancel your hotel reservation directly with your hotel to avoid being charged as a 'no show.'
GANA will continue to monitor the situation and post updates if needed. To our members and colleagues in Florida and surrounding areas that will be impacted by Hurricane Irma, we send our thoughts for your safety in the days ahead.
We hope to see you in Atlanta.
