Welcome to the new GANA website! Our new site is an extensive resource for architects, exclusive information for members, online sales for events and easy access to purchase or download GANA publications. To ensure our website remains a valuable tool for our audience, GANA staff and volunteer members have worked hard to give our website a facelift and offer new and improved ways to navigate to the tools you need. This new site offers improved features such as a searchable member directory, an enhanced e-commerce system for publication sales and, of course, this very Glass Nation blog for all your GANA and industry news.
GANA in Action: A Week of Work
Do you ever wonder what your GANA staff are up to? You’ll be happy to know we are literally “in action” every day, working on products and services that benefit you and developing creative new ideas that benefit our members. Below are a few highlights of our efforts from the last week.
President’s Visit & Strategic Discussion
GANA President Stanley Yee was gracious enough to visit GANA Headquarters in Topeka, Kansas last week. His visit prompted great discussion on strategies and tactics for advocacy, collaboration with industry partners, event planning and employee professional development. (Special thanks to Stanley for his leadership and spending time with us!)
Efforts are underway on a number of technical documents and resources. Below are just five documents we touched upon last week with the help of our committee members and chairs:
Event Attendance: ASHRAE Annual Conference
Last weekend the GANA technical trio was out in force at the ASHRAE Annual Conference in St. Louis, MO. Urmilla Sowell, GANA Technical Director, and GANA code consultants Tom Culp and Thom Zaremba attended the Technical Program designed to inform, discuss and advance technology and practices.
Event Planning: Fall Conference
We’re busy planning and promoting the GANA Fall Conference. As always, the event will offer a great opportunity to connect and discuss critical topics. A recently-added highlight will include a brunch presentation from Amy Huff, a St. Louis-based architect with Trivers Associates, who will discuss a current project that’s underway for the iconic St. Louis courthouse. To learn more about the Fall Conference visit glasswebsite.com.
Volunteers: An Extension of the GANA Team
GANA staff work hard for you, our members, and we’re proud of it. But we don’t work alone. Our Board members, Committee Chairs and volunteers help create the resources and ideas that bring GANA to life. If you’d like to get involved, just reach out to Sara Neiswanger, GANA Account Executive today: firstname.lastname@example.org
The GANA Laminating Division has provided an updated version of the popular Glass Informational Bulletin, "Design Considerations for Laminated Glazing Applications". In the wake of the mass murder at a night club in Orlando, Florida last week it’s important to take a moment to reflect and react to such a terrible tragedy. However, as business owners and leaders in our work environment, it’s also important to consider proactive measures to help keep employees as safe as possible. A few months ago, the GANA Safety Bulletin addressed warning signs to help identify individuals who may be planning to execute violent workplace actions. Because the best ending scenario for these types of incidents is intervention during any of the phases of planning before the actual execution, it is crucial that we maintain awareness in an effort to prevent future occurrences. However, it is human nature to become complacent to potential dangers when we feel there is a low likelihood of risk to ourselves, personally. Because of this, it is a sad certainty that eventually, we will see someone on the news following another workplace shooting, saying, “I never thought it could happen here.”
The GANA Safety Bulletin is a benefit of membership with GANA. However, in the spirit of safety and proactivity, we’re offering this document as a free resource. Please take a moment to download and review this important document:
